The fallout from Sunday’s Dynasty pay-per-view will be felt on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland will go one-on-one with PAC of The Death Riders in a first-time matchup on tonight’s show. Strickland challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World title at Dynasty, but was defeated after interference from the returning Young Bucks.

In the aftermath of the main event, The Opps brawled with The Death Riders, with Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Hook fighting Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta. As a result, Samoa Joe and Hook will face Castagnoli and Yuta in tag team action on tonight’s episode.

The Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament also continues tonight with another first-time matchup, as Thunder Rosa and Kris Statlander go one-on-one with a spot in the semifinals at stake. Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will be on commentary for the Rosa vs. Statlander quarterfinal. The eventual tournament winner will challenge Storm at All In in July for the title.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as the Road to Double or Nothing begins tonight. They throw it to the Death Riders backstage as Jon Moxley said this is the single greatest roster of pure talent ever assembled in AEW, so why can’t anyone get their act together when it counts? They come with their talent, yet roll back down the hill, not addressing the real problem, they don’t want it. The Death Riders will scorch the Earth with anyone who calls themselves a contender before they give an inch. The Young Bucks have returned, but Moxley doesn’t recognize them anymore, as they’ve stumbled upon a board and they don’t know what game it is. Moxley said he’s be careful if he was them before making any moves.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (w/Marina Shafir) defeated Katsuyori Shibata

(Not really a lot to say about this, as I’m surprised at how short this match was, it just felt like it was getting going and instead, just ended. It ultimately made sense, seeing how long the post-match talking segment went, which was fine, but I wish the Bucks & Omega’s verbal exchange would’ve been better.)

Shibata got the early advantage in the grappling battle, leaving Moxley scrambling to the ropes to regroup. Moxley opted to go for strikes, as a chop exchange worked better for him initially, only Shibata screamed for more before sweeping out Moxley’s leg and applied an abdominal stretch into an Octopus Hold. Signature stalling dropkick connected once, but Moxley popped up the second attempt with a lariat, but Shibata kicked out at one. Moxley hit a piledriver, but Shibata no sold and hit a PK flush. Both trade rear naked chokes, with Moxley raking the eyes, allowing him to sink in the choke deep, trap the arm and Shibata went out in a shockingly quick match.

Post-match, The Young Bucks make their way to the ring before Moxley & Shafir could leave. Matthew & Nicholas have a face-off, as Shafir stepped between them, but the camera didn’t catch what Moxley said before he & Shafir left through the crowd. Nicholas told the crowd to give it up for Moxley and ordered the fans to show respect for the EVPs. Everyone wonders why they cost Swerve Strickland the AEW World Title at Dynasty? They did it for their good friend, Hangman Adam Page, as this is what he wanted all along, he never wanted Strickland to be champion ever again and they did that for him, they never forget who their friends are and they love Hangman, just like they know they love them.

Matthew said they did it as a peace offering to Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. They sat at home and realized they have more in common with the Death Riders than they think. They want AEW to be the best company in the world, just like The Bucks do, they all want to change the world. The Bucks are impressed with Moxley, who did what they couldn’t, take over AEW and the AEW World Title. Imagine The Death Riders and the founding fathers, the EVPs together, so they invited Moxley and crew back to the ring to discuss business.

Kenny Omega’s music hits as Excalibur told us you can’t mention founding fathers without mentioning Omega, who got a huge ovation. Omega said The Bucks did this for their friends like Moxley & Hanger, but they forgot to mention. The last time they saw one another, The Elite pushed him off a stretcher during the height of his diverticulitis. Omega never forgot, but he actually forgave them, as when he returned, it was for his legacy, not revenge. We’re trying to bring back the feeling, as Omega talks about back in high school, he’d go to his friend’s house to hang out and the friend had a few dogs, ugly little shih tzu’s, who would always dookie on the floor. Over time, the more the dookie would pile up, he finally put his foot down and brought up how they should hang out at his place. It’s the equivalent of what The Bucks have done in AEW.

Omega said The Bucks shredded documents the last time we saw them and we’re supposed to be shocked by that, when all it was were them shredding receipts for private jets and a chair in your master bedroom facing your bed, which got a chuckle from the crowd. Omega said if it wasn’t for the Death Riders, it was The Bucks that almost killed the company Omega gave his heart and soul for. Omega can’t lie, that time off did them real wonders, Nick looks every bit of the 90 pounds he lost before, while Matt needs to lay off the hot stuff, he looks as red as Nick’s lapels. Omega said it’s time to cut out the middle man, he’ll just come to the ring and fight.

Before this could happen, the coin drop sounded, as Kazuchika Okada power walks to the ring. It was looking like a 3 on 1 until Swerve Strickland’s music hit and he came in from the crowd with Prince Nana and a chair, as The Bucks & Okada bailed quickly. Strickland death stared The Bucks before glancing over at Omega, giving a fist bump. Omega left, as Strickland proclaimed it Buck hunting season, as he has a shotgun ready to go blasting EVPs. Before Strickland could get going with saying anything else, PAC blindsided him from behind as we’re told that match is happening, next.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated PAC

(I really hope PAC is ok, as this never even got a chance to get going before the injury. As of this typing, we obviously don’t know the severity, but having this pivot as quickly as they did, I think it’s safe to say it’s not good. All the best goes out to PAC.)

Strickland recovered right as the match officially began, slamming PAC repeatedly into the barricade outside. Back inside, Strickland hit a violent buckle bomb and leaping corner uppercut before hitting the Griddy. PAC rolled to the outside, as the referee and doctor checked on PAC, who apparently legit hurt his ankle or foot. They all sort of had to reset, as PAC rolled slowly back into the ring, hobbled on one leg, as Strickland hit a thrust kick and Swerve Stomp to win.

We hear from both teams involved in the $400,000 tag match happening tonight. Ricochet said he’s the captain of his team now and there’s a lot he can do with $400K. While the babyface team, Will Ospreay said he’s going to Disneyworld, Mike Bailey will buy shoes, Kevin Knight will go to Magic City and Mark Briscoe will diversify his portfolio as they all get amped up.

Video package on the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament is shown. We’re told Billie Starkz vs. Jamie Hayter as well as Athena vs. Harley Cameron, will take place on Collision this week. Mercedes Mone will face the winner of Athena & Cameron next week on Dynamite in Boston at Spring Break Thru.

Renee Paquette is backstage and stops Hangman Adam Page from power walking, but before she could ask him about his Owen Hart Tournament match next week against a Wild Card, he pretty much ignored her. Page storms into Swerve Strickland’s locker room and screams at Prince Nana, asking where Strickland’s at? Page told Nana to sit down and listen, he’ll make something clear, at Dynasty, he wasn’t trying to help Swerve. Next week, Page starts the Owen and if Strickland intervenes, he’ll pick up with him where he left off. Page went to walk away, but Nana stopped him and tried to apologize for what they did a year ago, but Page quickly cut him off saying not to say another word, he doesn’t get to say that. Page stormed out and this segment was awesome.

Will Ospreay, Kevin Knight, Speedball Mike Bailey & Mark Briscoe defeated Ricochet, The Beast Mortos & CRU (Lio Rush & Action Andretti) in a $400,000 8-Man Tag

(This was a party match to end all party matches and similar to the 3-way at Dynasty for the International Title, would’ve fit in perfectly during a BOLA weekend in PWG. While I thought the heels winning could’ve led to some fun stories on what they’d do with their respective $100K, but we’re robbed of seeing what Mortos would’ve done with his winnings.)

Ricochet immediately bailed to have Mortos start with Bailey, who hit a quick hurricanrana off the second, as Ricochet tried a blind tag and sneak attack, but Bailey was ready, so Rush tagged in, as did Ospreay. Andretti ran distraction to allow a blindside, as Ospreay was stomped out in the corner. Ospreay managed to break free and we got an 8-man stalemate. Ricochet ran his mouth too much and all hell broke loose and we got 40 punches in the corner before locomotion splashes and overhand chop waffled Ricochet. The heels went outside, where Briscoe & Ospreay hit stereo dives on CRU, Knight flew over the post to wipe out Mortos andBailey hit a springboard moonsault onto the pile. The babyfaces gave each other an all hands in celebration, as Ricochet tried a dive over the top, they all moved and Ricochet did his wild flip landing on his feet, but realized he was screwed (very gif worthy reaction). He slowly turned around and got paint brushed by all 4 opponents as things went to commercial.

Back from break, Bailey was lighting up Mortos with kicks and running Shooting Star for two. Mortos started hulking up and flattened Bailey with a lungblower into the double down. Ricochet tagged first, but posed for the crowd before missing a springboard dive. Bailey took out CRU with charging boots, only to turn into a massive double stomp by Ricochet. Briscoe ran in and cleaned house briefly before being flattened by a Mortos pop-up Samoan Drop. Mortos tried the same thing on Knight, who countered into a spike DDT. CRU back in and showed off their speedy offense, with Rush hitting Rush Hour and Andretti hitting with a flying neckbreaker. Ospreay sprinted in and hit a handspring double Pele on CRU before Ricochet blindsided him. Bailey in, but Ricochet planted him with the powerbomb into DVD for two.

Briscoe tumbled to the outside with Ricochet, as Mortos was left alone with Bailey. They collided until Briscoe made the save, they both backflipped onto their feet and teased a double Crane Kick, sort of both connecting, as Ospreay flew in with an Oscutter and Knight hit the UFO Splash, but all the heels broke the count. Everyone spilled outside except Ospreay & Mortos, as Ospreay hit Hidden Blade to win it and the $400,000 for his team.

We see footage of FTR violently turning on Cope at Dynasty. Commentary again question if we’ll ever see Cope again in AEW, as the injuries he sustained on Sunday have ruled him out indefinitely. Tony Schiavone said he’s seen some low, disgusting acts over his wrestling career, but what FTR did takes the cake and Dax Harwood’s daughter would be ashamed of her father. I’m sure that last comment will come back to haunt Schiavone.

The Hurt Syndicate Championship Celebration

MVP said punks jump up to get beat down, as two more challengers stepped up for the Tag Team championship and two more got beat up. Lashley & Benjamin raise bottles of champagne as MVP toasts to another successful defense until MJF’s music interrupts and he came to the ring, falling in line, as Lashley looked disgusted. MJF said they hurt people, look at them, dripping in gold, you’re welcome by the way, as this couldn’t have come at a better time. Tony Khan wanted him to do the Owen Hart Tournament, for what, sweat his balls off, he doesn’t think so. This way, MJF can get back his AEW World Title, as he scratched their backs, without his help, woof, and now, they can help him. MJF asks MVP what’s the initiation process, is it like an old school blood brother contract?

Lashley told MJF to shut his mouth, as it was really cute that MJF tried to help them, but he didn’t get the job done, as it’s another reason, they don’t need him. MJF & Lashley bickered until MVP & Benjamin stepped in. MVP said in order for MJF to join the Syndicate, he has to get three thumbs up, as MVP gives his thumbs up, as Benjamin gives a thumbs down. Lashley hugs his tag partner as they take their Tag Titles and leave, as MVP gives a shrug to MJF, who was left alone, frustrated, shoving the camera out of his face.

Renee Paquette is backstage with Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford, asking how they were following Dynasty? Ford said that was a taste of defeat, but it changes nothing, as everything Bayne has been through isn’t erased just because Storm survived. Ford said Bayne will be at Collision and doesn’t care who or how many, Bayne stepped up and said she will make you bow down.

AEW Women’s Champion Timeless Toni Storm made her grand entrance to the commentary team before the upcoming match. Storm crawled across the table like a cheetah, pulling keys out of her purse, telling Mr. Tazmaniac she moved his car, but left her chewing tobacco in there. Taz broke, as this was a callback to Storm in the post-Dynasty presser saying a car with the license plates FTW was double parked.

Kris Statlander defeated Thunder Rosa in an Owen Hart Foundation Quarterfinal

(This was a good TV match, but was completely overshadowed by Storm’s hilarious one liners on commentary, breaking the team repeatedly throughout. While I could see that as a negative in terms of the women in the match, I do like that Storm is out there to see potential future challengers and winners of the Owen.)

Storm said if she teamed with Statlander, they’d be called Thunder Thighs, but if she teamed with Tony Schiavone, they’d just be called Tits. The entire commentary team has lost it laughing, as Statlander showed off her strength early and followed with an arm drag and snap dropkick. Rosa cut off a corner charge, missed her dropkick in the ropes, but Statlander also missed a slingshot elbow. Rosa connected the second try on her dropkick and followed with a seated senton off the apron. Storm mentioned she loves Texas, as it’s big, just like her Big Package that no one has kicked out of. Excalibur said Megan Bayne has unfinished business with Storm, who said the business was finished in her eyes. Both Rosa & Statlander brawled ringside as things went to commercial break.

Rosa was in the driver’s seat when things returned, with Storm giving a PSA to the camera, telling the kids watching to please, try this at home. Storm said the last time she wrestled Statlander, she was dropped on her head and shrunk 3 inches, then saw Mr. Schiavone and she got it right back. Rosa tried a cazadora, but Statlander countered into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a close near fall. Rosa spun out of Wednesday Night Fever and hit a Destroyer for two of her own. Rosa hit a charging knee flush, as she said it’s nothing personal before slapping Statlander in the face. Rosa charged, but Statlander cut her off with a wild lariat and hit the Wednesday Night Fever to win it. Post-match, Storm stood on the commentary table and gave applause as Statlander helped Rosa up, who gave Statlander the ring.

Don Callis is backstage with Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher saying all roads are leading to a Don Callis Family Final in the Owen Hart Tournament. Callis said Brody King got one over on Lance Archer, but shant happen again against Takeshita. His men are in their 20s, oiled up, hot, the talk of the town. Given the rash of injuries that have taken place to The Family, they’re opening up initiations to join them, so send your resume and bank account info and he’ll take you straight to the top.

Adam Cole is backstage with the Undisputed Kingdom, as Kyle O’Reilly said ever since joining them, he’s been chasing titles, but it’s kicked off with Cole winning the TNT Title. Roderick Strong said it’s time to win titles of their own. Cole said he came back from back-to-back injuries and the toughest test of his life, but he stands here TNT Champion. They stand before you the paragon of pro wrestling and that is Undisputed.

TV Time with The Learning Tree

Chris Jericho is out somber, saying on Sunday he lost his match, tooth and title, which, despite being disappointing, congratulations Bandido for pulling it off. After months of conflict with one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, himself, Bandido saved his mask, as he was with his family. Bandido has his family and Jericho has his and brings out Big Bill & Bryan Keith.

Jericho said he’d hope all three of them would have titles here tonight, but they couldn’t win the Tag Team titles. Bill cut Jericho off and said he knows what Jericho is going to say, he’s angry and has every right to be, so is he. Keith tried to stop Bill, who said Jericho needs to hear this, as they’ve spoken about this. Bill said he has a lot of respect for Jericho, one of the greatest of all time and decorated champions in history, which is why he decided to join The Learning Tree. However, Bill didn’t sign up to be Jericho’s punching bag when things go wrong. If he & Keith are out there for Jericho to teach them, then teach, but if it’s to publicly humiliate them, let him know now and he can leave. Bill knows Keith feels the same way.

Jericho gets in Keith’s face and asks if that’s true, but says that not why he brought them out there, if they thought that, they have a lot more to learn than Jericho thought. He hand-picked both to stand by Jericho because he saw potential, as they are future champions, but was disappointed in them that they weren’t there for Jericho in his match. Some might say it’s their fault he lost the ROH Title, but not Jericho, it’s ok, he’s not angry, he’s just disappointed. Jericho smashed the giant TV screen with the baseball bat, screaming he’s disappointed, dropping a F bomb in the process, saying he’s disappointed in them. Until they change that, it’s best that Jericho leaves. Jericho left and the fans sang “Hey Hey Hey Goodbye”. I’m sure this is due to Fozzy having a their 25th anniversary tour happening over the next month.

Footage of the returning 5 Tool Player, Anthony Bowens, answering Max Caster’s Open Challenge during Dynasty Zero Hour was shown. Bowens will be in action on Collision against Blake Christian.

Alicia Atout is backstage with The Hurt Syndicate, asking where things go from here with MJF? Lashley said MJF is not to be trusted, he doesn’t like MJF and we don’t need him. Benjamin said they don’t need anyone, but little George Costanza is kind of funny. Lashley walked away annoyed before there was a knock on the door and MJF walks in.

MJF said to Atout this is an AB conversation and to C your skank ass out of here, slapped her on the ass and said he’ll see her around. MJF asks MVP if he’s a female dog to him and why he keeps getting treated like a bitch? MVP said they know exactly who MJF is, but they’re in a business and as a consumer, you find out what they want and you give it to them. MVP walks out and MJF is left taking that info in.

Chris Jericho is storming out of the arena, smashing things with his baseball bat on the way out before getting into a car and leaving.

Samoa Joe & HOOK defeated Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta

(This was a solid main event and the most logical step in this new Opps/Death Riders feud. I’ve missed angry pissed off Samoa Joe and this feud has thankfully brought that version back out. I can only assume Jon Moxley will step in for PAC whenever this Trios Title match happens. They could do this any time they want, as The Opps winning the titles makes the most sense.)

Joe & Yuta start with Joe no selling a forearm, causing Yuta to high tail it, realizing he pissed Joe off, so he tagged in Castagnoli. Quick uppercuts and jabs traded by both, and Joe hit a corner enzugiri and tag to HOOK, who worked the midsection. Castagnoli didn’t budge on a T-Bone attempt, slammed HOOK down, tagged Yuta, who leaped for a dive, only for HOOK to calmly side step. After three suplexes, Joe tagged back in with his signature snapmare, boot to the back and leaping elbow. HOOK back in, as Yuta is sent to the apron, as he pulled out HOOK’s legs to the apron, allowing Castagnoli to hit a double stomp and take control into the last commercial break, which for another week, happened at the top of the hour.

HOOK tried to mount a comeback, but Yuta cut him off with an Angle Slam for two. Castagnoli toyed with HOOK, who finally battled out of the corner with a huge T-Bone for the double down. Yuta cut off Joe before the tag, but turned into an overhead HOOK throw. HOOK wanted a tag, but Joe wasn’t there, so Castagnoli flew in with a freight train uppercut. Powerbomb/Top Rope Clothesline combo from Yuta & Castagnoli got a close two, as Joe & Castagnoli brawled on the outside, as Joe hit a huge Uranage. Inside the ring, HOOK applied REDRUM before Jon Moxley appeared and ran distraction, allowing Yuta to rake at the eyes to break the submission. Moxley grabbed a chair, but Katsuyori Shibata appeared from behind, applying a Rear Naked Choke on the aisle, Joe had one locked on Castagnoli, as HOOK applied REDRUM on Yuta to get the submission win.

Post-match, Marina Shafir clipped Joe in the knee with a chair, as Castagnoli placed a chair opposite end up and hit HOOK with a Neutralizer onto it. Death Riders bailed, as Joe & Shibata made the save with chairs, as he was left livid with Castagnoli smirking. Joe got the mic and screamed that the Death Riders are cowardly sons of bitches. The Opps came to Baltimore to get into a fist fight and the Death Riders are acting more like D*ck Riders than to come fight. Joe wants to make it simple, The Opps vs. Death Riders, as they’re coming for the Trios Championship. Joe & Shibata help HOOK up and The Opps stand tall to end the show.
