Chris Jericho will defend the ROH World Championship on the September 28 episode of AEW Dynamite.
AEW president Tony Khan has announced that former ROH World Champion Bandido will challenge for the gold on Wednesday night. This bout will mark Bandido’s AEW debut.
Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam to win the championship; in doing so, he captured his eighth world title.
Bandido previously lost the title to Jonathan Gresham at ROH Supercard of Honor in April, where they clashed in a match to determine the undisputed champion. Gresham beat Jay Lethal to win the gold at ROH Final Battle after Bandido, the reigning champion, was forced to miss the event due to COVID-19.
Update: In a tweet, ROH broadcaster Ian Riccaboni noted that he lives in Allentown, which isn’t far from Philadelphia, the host city of this week’s episode of Dynamite. He sated that he would enjoy being part of the broadcast team for the match, and Khan responded by saying he’ll see him for the match on Wednesday.
The updated card for AEW Dynamite is as follows:
AEW World Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Juice Robinson
Fans will hear from Saraya
MJF will appear
Chris Jericho championship celebration
ROH World Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Bandido
Indy Pro Wrestling will have coverage of the show as it airs on Wednesday.
