Lance Storm is getting back in the saddle for the first time since he was released by WWE in 2020. The legendary Canadian wrestler has officially joined Impact Wrestling, where he will serve as a backstage producer.

Storm announced his new gig on Figure Four Daily on Friday, February 4. The former WWE Superstar will report for duty later this month and will hit the road with Impact for the company's upcoming No Surrender pay-per-view and subsequent Impact Wrestling on AXS tapings.

This will be the second time Impact has employed Storm, who parted ways with the company back in 2019 when he accepted a similar role with WWE. Storm was furloughed by WWE in April 2020, just a few months into the COVID-19 pandemic. The ex-ECW star was eventually released by WWE in July 2020 and became unemployed for the first time in a long time.

Storm's countryman and former tag partner Chris Jericho reacted to news of Storm's WWE release by tweeting that 26 years was a great run and WWE needs to pull its head out of its ass and hire him back. Storm pointed out that if he wasn't living in Canada right now and the border between it and the US was still open his "streak would have stayed intact.

Storm has a brilliant wrestling mind and is one of the most gifted technical performers to ever lace up a pair of boots. As a coach/producer, he's unquestionably an asset, and Impact is lucky to have him. What's more, Storm is still in great shape, and Impact is the perfect place for him to embark upon one last run, should he decide to do such a thing.
