After missing Double or Nothing, Rey Fenix remains on the sidelines with an injury for All Elite Wrestling. We now have an update on the situation.
Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reports that Rey Fenix is suffering from a groin injury that has kept him on the sidelines since the end of April. At that point, it was thought he would miss six to eight weeks of in-ring time.
It also appears that the injury actually occurred in a match in Mexico and not in an AEW ring. His last in-ring appearance for All Elite Wrestling came in a match against Chuck Taylor on AEW Dark: Elevation.
In an update from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the Death Triangle stablemate should be out for another month before returning to in-ring action. AEW acknowledged the injury on the June 4 episode of Dynamite, stating that The Young Bucks attacked Rey Fenix backstage and injured him. This attack was later aired a few days later on Being The Elite.
Before being injured, Fenix and the rest of Death Triangle were feuding with Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. Since Fenix has been out, PAC and Penta El Zero M have shifted into a feud with the Elite and will team with Eddie Kingston on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite to face the team of Brandon Cutler and the AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks.
