Sting will finally make his All Elite Wrestling in-ring debut, as the company announced he will compete in tag team action at their next pay-per-view event, AEW Revolution.
Earlier today, AEW teased making a match announcement for the pay-per-view event, currently scheduled to take place on February 27. It was quite the announcement as we now know Sting will team with TNT Champion Darby Allin against Team Taz’s Brian Cage and Ricky Starks. It also won’t be an ordinary tag team match as it will be contested under ‘street fight’ rules.
Sting has been making regular appearances on Dynamite since debuting on December 2 at their “Winter Is Coming” special event, but has not wrestled a match yet. This will mark Sting’s first official match in any capacity since WWE Night Of Champions 2015, when he lost a World Heavyweight Championship match to Seth Rollins and suffered what was then believed to be a career-ending injury.
Revolution will also mark Sting’s first tag team match since he and John Cena teamed up to beat Seth Rollins and Big Show on the September 14, 2015 episode of WWE RAW, just six days before the Night Of Champions event.
