During the March 15 episode of AEW Dynamite, Jade Cargill quickly defended her TBS Championship against Canada’s own Nicole Matthews in a matter of seconds. After the bout, Renee Paquette attempted to interview the champ but had the mic stolen from her.
When Cargill started to speak, Taya Valkyrie’s music hit and she marched down to the ring to confront the undefeated star. Cargill opted to leave after a staredown, resulting in Valkyrie laying out Leila Grey.
Following the appearance, Tony Khan took to Twitter to confirm “Wera Loca” has signed a deal with the company.
Valkyrie recently spoke with WrestleZone managing editor Bill Pritchard in an exclusive interview and stated that she would be home in Los Angeles despite AEW advertising a Canadian open challenge.
As of this writing, Valkyrie is the reigning MLW Women’s Featherweight and IMPACT Knockouts World Tag Team Champion. She also holds AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select subsequently reported that, as far back as February, Valkyrie informed other companies she was working with about her plans to sign. She reportedly intends to fulfill her scheduled dates with Major League Wrestling in April; Valkyrie is set to defend the MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship against Delmi Exo at MLW War Chamber on April 6.
