Three Championship Matches Set For ROH Death Before Dishonor

The first two title matches are official for Ring of Honor‘s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, and another one has been set up.

Samoa Joe will return to action at ROH Death Before Dishonor on July 23 when he puts the ROH World Television Championship on the line against Jay Lethal. The trio of Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh have had their sights set on Joe ever since he defeated Minoru Suzuki for the title on AEW Dynamite in April.

Joe has been absent from the ring since losing to Adam Cole at Double or Nothing in the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament finals. It was previously reported that Samoa Joe landed an acting role in Peacock’s Twisted Metal, which resulted in a brief absence from TV. Joe confronted Lethal at ROH Supercard of Honor and later defeated Minoru Suzuki for the title on the April 13 episode of AEW Dynamite.

It has also been confirmed that Wheeler Yuta will defend his ROH Pure Championship against Daniel Garcia in an extension of the Blackpool Combat Club/Jericho Appreciation Society rivalry in AEW. Garcia attacked Yuta and made it clear that he was coming for the title on the June 28 episode of AEW Dark. Yuta won the title by defeating Josh Woods at ROH Supercard of Honor.

Additionally, on the July 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, FTR challenged The Briscoes to a rematch for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler defeated The Briscoes in an instant classic to win the gold at ROH Supercard of Honor. Though the rematch hasn’t been officially announced yet, it’s fair to assume it will be added to the card because the promo aired on AEW Dynamite, and Tony Khan owns ROH.

FTR also won the IWGP Tag Team Championship at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, and they are the reigning AAA Tag Team Champions.

Ring of Honor’s Death Before Dishonor event will emanate from Lowell, MA, on Saturday, July 23. ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham and ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez are also expected to be part of the card.
