Will Ospreay Calls AJ Styles A Major Influence On His Career

Will Ospreay speaks highly of AJ Styles and All Elite Wrestling.

In recent years, Ospreay has established himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world. He has faced a number of top stars, including Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega. At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, Omega defeated Ospreay in an instant classic to win the IWGP United States Championship.

Speaking on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Ospreay was asked to name what and who he watches in the wrestling world. He responded by naming Styles as one of his influences when he was growing up. Ospreay recalled how he liked the way that, even when TNA as a company was struggling, Styles was always great. He then stated that he likes to watch AEW, as he believes it’s the best wrestling product on TV,

“One of my influences growing up was AJ Styles. I used to love… I was like infatuated with how he moved, how he talked. I liked it as well because he was the guy in TNA. There was a point in TNA where it was dogsh—-, but be all and end all, you could always go, ‘Well at least AJ’s there.’ I’ve always liked that. If the company gets like s—, you can always be like, ‘But at least AJ’s there.’ So I’ve always liked that. [Naomichi] Marufuji was a huge influence as well, watching how he moves and how he is able to even innovate to this day, it’s crazy how he does that.

“I like watching the old junior heavyweight matches, before he was Bullet Club, Prince Devitt, I used to love watching that. I really just [like to] watch AEW. For my money, it’s the best product, wrestling-wise, I think it’s more mature, I would say. It’s better than the spooky demons.”
