Ring of Honor returns to Pittsburgh for Steel City Excellence, an international television taping! This television taping will lay the groundwork and the foundation for the road to Final Battle! All of your favorite stars will be there, jockeying for positioning for a place on the biggest card of the year, ROH’s seminal event Final Battle!
In the storied 16+ year history of Ring of Honor, there have only been 24 individuals to capture and defend the ROH World Championship. The last three individuals to hold the World Championship, current champion Jay Lethal, Dalton Castle, and Cody have never seen completely eye to eye. But they will team up to face a common set of enemies, a man that calls himself the “Real Ring of Honor World Champion”, Matt Taven, “The Best Around” TK O’Ryan, and “The Horror King” Vinny Marseglia!
ROH WORLD CHAMPION JAY LETHAL, DALTON CASTLE, AND “THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE” CODY vs. THE KINGDOM (MATT TAVEN, TK O’RYAN, & VINNY MARSEGLIA)
Matt Taven has maintained he is “The Real ROH World Champion” following his visual pinfall on the then-ROH World Champion Dalton Castle in Fairfax. In the bout, Taven, Castle, Cody, and the eventual winner Jay Lethal competed for the ROH World Championship and Taven has cried conspiracy ever since.
Taven showed up in Nashville with a bag claiming within the bag he possessed the “Real World Championship” and then revealed a ROH World Championship with purple leather following an attack on Jay Lethal following the main event of Death Before Dishonor!
Taven has made a lot of enemies in 2018 and he and The Kingdom must face them in Pittsburgh. Taven and Cody spent much of the early part of the year embroiled in a feud that culminated in a first blood match while he believes he pinned Castle after a World Championship match was canceled in Lowell. And finally, Taven and Lethal have been diametrically opposed almost since Taven’s first day in ROH, famously feuding for the ROH World Championship.
